Compatibility and verification
This is a local, static deck viewer, not an Anki add-on runtime or a review scheduler. Every card in an accepted collection is available; that does not mean every package size or custom template is supported.
- Up to 100 MB per package and 64 MB for the decompressed SQLite database. Oversized collections are rejected, not silently sampled.
- collection.anki2, collection.anki21 and zstd-compressed collection.anki21b; JSON and protobuf media indexes.
- Basic and cloze front/back rendering, packaged images, and audio supported by your browser. Missing or unsupported media falls back to a placeholder.
- Scripts, add-ons and remote media are disabled. MathJax/LaTeX is not evaluated. Script-dependent templates and some image-occlusion layouts can differ from Anki.
- Deck bytes stay on this device. This does not mean the website makes no network requests: page assets and aggregate analytics are separate from deck contents.

What is an .apkg file?
An .apkg (Anki package) is a zip archive containing an Anki collection database (SQLite) plus optional media files and a media map. A .colpkg is a full-collection package in the same family. AnkiWeb does not import package files itself — you open the file in an app. GuruOwl imports the same packages independently.
How do I open an .apkg file on iPhone or iPad?

Yes. The package is parsed entirely in your browser — zip decompress, SQLite read, and card rendering never hit our servers. Close the tab and the bytes are gone from memory (we do not store them).
Which Anki export formats work?
collection.anki2 and collection.anki21 (classic and modern schema), plus collection.anki21b (zstd-compressed newer exports), with JSON or protobuf media indexes. Packages up to 100 MB; every card is available through pagination and search. Remote media, scripts and add-ons are disabled. Unsupported or missing media falls back gracefully.
Is this an Anki file converter?
